Are jobs on U.S military bases Available for civilians?

suffice it to say i am not cut out for the military lifestyle. despite this i have a ton of love and respect for our troops. i was wondering if there are job opportunities on military bases for those who aren't per say in the military. (say working in the commissary) do you have to be in the military to work on base, and if not, what are some other jobs available on base?
